Concentric is announcing its Summer Design Gig, open junior or senior design majors (or recent grads) looking for a creative internship for the 2017 summer break. This is a paid position, 3 x 8 hour days or 4 x 6 hour days depending on your schedule preference. Concentric is a CPG-focused brand development consultancy and creative agency. CPG is “consumer packaged goods.” Our clients range from beer, to pet food, to frozen turkey burgers. We’re always launching new products with smart strategies and powerful creative solutions, such as naming, brand identity, packaging, as well as some digital, video and point-of-sale. It’s fun. The products you work on you can go buy at the grocery store, like beer or frozen pad thai. You could even brag to the cashier on they way out, “My agency did that.” You could bring your work to a party. Can you bring a billboard to a party? No.
SHOW US YOUR BOOK—AND YOUR TEETH
Our ideal intern has an unusual gravitation toward brand design and identity. They dig typefaces, color, logos, symbols and iconography. Maybe even petroglyphs and cave paintings. They can share ideas and emotions through mood boards. They are never far from a pencil or marker or Wacom or Moleskine or beer coaster. They are unafraid to stand up and talk design smack, show their teeth and scare mediocrity into leaving the room. This is called “being fierce.” And we like that. Fierce is part of Concentric’s culture, not because we always want to be right (well, we do want to be right since a lot is riding on our rightness for clients) but because we also want to be creative badasses.
HOW TO GET THE GIG
If interested, write a short but compelling note telling us why this gig would be a good idea for both of us and why you are fierce. Make it a win-win thing, because it will be. Also, send us a link to your portfolio, or a PDF. We will be brutally chopping it down with our Portfolio Machete™ to a short list by April 14, then conduct interviews with those people by April 28. A decision will be announced to the short list on May 5. Exact start and end dates are flexible per the student’s situation, but we are hoping to run the internship a total of 12 weeks.
Legal: Must not be allergic to dogs or beer or design critiques. Must be able to lift up-to-10-pound creative awards. Must address our research guy as “The Champ” for duration of internship.
Fill out this form to apply today. We prefer a link to a complete LinkedIn profile over a resume file. Do not apply unless you are in, or willing to relocate to the Charlotte, NC area. This is not an off-site position. We are not looking to outsource or freelance this position.
